Pyjamas on a busy street

Yesterday noon time,
when I was walking in the crowded "Rua de Pedro Nolasco da Silva",
near the shopping malls area,
I was attracted by two middle age ladies,
both of them were wearing pyjamas,
one in small blue flower pattern,
while the other,
in  small pink flower pattern,
they also carried their handbags,
enjoying the time by browsing around the shops,
from their outlook,
I could tell they were visitors from mainland China.
It was really a funny picture comparing with the other pedestrians.

I really wanted to take a picture of them,
but gave up at last,
as I didn't want to get into trouble!

All about Love

Just few nights,
I finished the book written by the Taiwanese writer Ms Liu Hsia
- "Hsinglintzu"(杏林子),
I love the stories very much,
because I could enjoy it at my leisure time,
at a relaxing mood,
and getting to know several great stories about love.

Actually,
if we pay attention,
we can find plenty of love stories around us,
there are a lot of love stories in the world!

Something is missing

Under such extraordinary hot weather,
I have stopped going out for exercises,
thus,
for the past few weeks,
my routine has slightly changed,
and it seems that I miss something to do.

Hope the summer is ready to leave,
and the beautiful autumn comes!

Crossroad in life

This afternoon,
heard a familiar voice outside my office,
it was N from Portugal,
who stopped by and said hello to us.

It was two years ago,
he decided to go back to Portugal where his permanent job and pension fund was there.
If he could choose,
he said he would like to stay in Macau,
where he has a lot of friends and he loves the life style here.

Not long after he was back to Europe,
the economy of Portugal has becoming worse.

During his adjustment period,
we know he would be homesick for Macau,
and may be back to Macau one day.

More than Two and a half years has passed,
ten days ago,
he came back to Macau for a prospect job arrangement,
however,
it didn't work out at last.

He said he also made some good contacts for job during this brief visit,
but no time for our gathering,
as he is leaving tomorrow morning.

Good to hear the news that he decided to come back,
bad to know that he is still searching for the job,
and in our conversation,
he worried the high rent and inflation here.

Life is full of decisions,
though there are  a lot of uncertainties ahead,
we need to make our own decision,
we don't know whether it is good or not,
but at least,
we give it a try,
we have a better insight ahead!

Wallstreet,newsweek, Economist. HBR,..

My day?

In the afternoon,
L's son from England commented my e-mail English,
simple, clear and precise.

Early evening,
met E's mother on the street,
while she was with one of the ladies from my dancing class,
we didn't know each other very much,
as I am not very talkative in my dancing class,
this lady complimented my dance.

Thanks for all the compliments,
in certain occasion,
I am just a little bit better,
as I started the learning process a little bit earlier,
anyway,
I need a quote to remind myself!

GOOD NEWS FROM SIU

Skype with S,
and got a good new from her,
excited to share her BIG news!
Wish her all the best and I am counting the days for her.

11 golden rules to live by

http://www.savvysugar.com/?page=4

Working hard and being smart with your money aren't things you just should do because they seem virtuous — these behaviors ultimately allow you to get more enjoyment out of life. You'll have no regrets when you're able to accomplish what's important to you because of your savvy ways. These are 11 golden rules that I try to live by; click through and then make a list of your own.

Live Within Your Means

In order to be truly independent, it's imperative to live within your means. Your freedom is limited by owing money to anyone, whether it's a credit card company or a family member, so set yourself up for an unrestricted life by saving for the things you want and spending with a plan.

Work Hard

Your job and the salary you command are your biggest assets in building wealth. Do your best at work and take the steps to make yourself indispensable to set yourself up for the highest level of success.

Research Before You Act

Whether you're comparing travel package and a la carte prices for a vacation or looking up a company to see if it's legitimate, research is almost always worth your time.

Avoid Buyer's Remorse

Feeling guilty just doesn't sit well. Avoid buyer's remorse by asking yourself these questions before making a purchase: Do I love it? How often would I wear or use it? Can I afford it? Could I find it cheaper somewhere else?

Avoid Saver's Remorse

There is such a thing as being too thrifty for your own good. What's the point of squirreling away so much cash if you can't splurge occasionally on yourself and others? Include an amount of discretionary money into your budget to spend on things that you might not desperately need, but would make you smile.

Strive For Happiness

Finding a job that makes you happy most of the time is possible, and it's worth taking risks to discover what fulfills you. If for one reason or another you're stuck in a position that isn't ideal, at least strive to end your day with something that does make you happy.

Go For Quality, Not Quantity

Stuffing your closet with items that will fall apart in three months is a silly way to spend your hard earned cash. Buy a smaller quantity of things that are made to last, and you'll be the owner of higher quality items that look and feel like they're worth your money.

Face Your Weaknesses Head-On

We're not perfect, but admitting that you have weaknesses and doing your best to improve will allow you to continue growing. Invest time in yourself to be the most well-rounded person you can be.

Save For the Predictable and the Unexpected

We're all going to face retirement someday, and the best time to save for it is now. The golden years are inevitable. On the other hand, we also need to be prepared for the unexpected, like job loss or a medical emergency, so that we can remain in control of our finances even when other things aren't going our way.

Negotiate

Doors aren't closed until you hear the word no. Negotiating things like salary and benefits can get you ahead of the game, and all you need is the confidence to ask.

Set Goals on Top of Goals

Cap the feeling that you're going through the motions by revising your goals when you've accomplished your old ones. Whether it's saving for a vacation to a place you've always wanted to visit or considering the next step in your career, there's always something to keep you moving and motivated.

5 Important Questions to Ask Yourself Every Day

http://www.lifehack.org/articles/communication/5-important-questions-to-ask-yourself-every-day.html#

1. What was the best thing that happened to me today?

This question helps us to be positive, happy and appreciative.

2. What could I have done better today?

What mistake did you make that you will avoid in the future? Think about ways to improve in this area in the future.

3. What is the most important thing I must accomplish tomorrow?

This question will help you focus on what is essential.

4. What new thing can I try tomorrow?

Life is a journey of discovery. We need to keep trying new things every day, no matter our age. What new approach or experience can you try?

5. Who is the most important person (or most important people) in my life and what am I doing for them?

Creative Director / Professional Photographer

Because of work,
met a professional photographer,
my impression to him was not good,
for the first meeting,
he was late for 10 minutes,
for the second meeting,
he was late again - for 30 minutes,
I called to reconfirm the meeting time,
he didn't answer my phone.

By the time he arrived the meeting room,
he asked - "Aircon, please!",
it seemed that he ran to catch up the time.

I realised that he didn't have a watch with him,
and at the end of the meeting,
he said the didn't bring his mobile,
and asked for using the phone to call people to pick him up,
what an artist 's style!!

Sometimes it is good to live without watch/ mobile,
but for a work life,
I think watch and mobile are important.

Getting in the bus.

In facebook, J posted a picture with the following comment:

"Sneaking through the back door - The problem of (Macau) traffic is not only infrastructure but also (some) people..."

I presented mine as:
"Agree, but it seems to me some of "that kind"of people are from mainland China, or some of them are picking up the "chinese" way of doing things from China"

Forwarded from my friend Angela, nice sharing!

男朋友向她求婚,女孩拒絕了,最後男孩只說了一句話:“take care of my eyes.”

五. 他向她求婚時,只說了三個字:相信我;

她為他生下第一個女兒的時候,他對她說:辛苦了;

女兒出嫁那天,他摟著她的肩說:還有我;

他收到她病危的那天,重複的對她說:我在這;

Urgent local problems cannot be solved by distant resources.

Received a call from my friend,
and was asked to do something,
I am not reluctantly to do so,
but considering the fact -
"one cannot fight a fire with water from far away",
I am afraid that the effort is very minimum.

What a Tourist City!

Hot summer time,
with a lot of tourists in the Largo Senado area,
the crowded streets remind me the time when I was in Santorini,
that means the places are just for the visitors.

This afternoon,
when I was waiting for the transportation back from Venetian to Macau,
I was among a lot of mainland visitors,
it seems that Venetian didn't have a good management on the allocation of the resources,
on the busy weekends,
with a lot of tourists,
for every 20 minutes,
only a small bus with 20+ seats for transportation to the Nam Yuen Pier,
which is closer to Largo Senado,
the heart of old town Macau,
as a result,
the queueing line was extremely long,
the people were getting angry,
when the bus came,
all the people in front rushed to the bus,
trying to get in the bus as quick as possible,
it was really chaos.
all of the people there were mainland visitors,
the bus was quickly overloaded,
thus , the driver asked the people without seat to leave,
however, no one did so,
the staff and the driver called the security guards and explained to them,
the bus could not leave with overloaded passengers.
still, all the people inside the bus kept on sitting,
nobody came out even though the other bus came.

I was in the second bus,
and got in and left the crowded place,
don't know the outcome of the people in that bus.

My father commented that -
the place is like Gongbei,
I was inspired by his comment,
yes, Macau is really a mainland city,
it is not an internaitonal city,
in terms of the quality of the people (visitors) here.

"I'm getting married in the morning, ding dong the bells are gonna chime..."
Mr. Right!

Additional note - 2012.8.23
I just learned that with her husband's previous marriage, Maria gets 3 young grandkids, unbelievable!!!!!!
So nice!

半畝方塘一鑑開,天光雲影共徘徊;
昨夜江邊春水生,艨艟巨艦一毛輕;

荷盡已無擎雨蓋,菊殘猶有傲霜枝;

勸君莫惜金縷衣,勸君惜取少年時;

黃梅時節家家雨,青草池鎕處處蛙;

Conversar

An unexpected half-day off

Thanks for the typhoon Kai Tak,
no need to go to work on the beautiful Friday morning,
the streets were very quiet,
no rain,
no storm,
and many people stayed outdoor with the No.8 signal was still on,
most of the shops starts their normal business at 10,
while the wet market, banks, government departments are still closed.

What a nice Friday morning,
I gain some extra time,
and making a special soup at home!

Song - 一點光 Shine a light

〈一點光 (Shine a light)〉
Timothy Gordine / Andrew Jackson
Joseph Ip

So shine your light Shine your light

Shine a light Shine a light
Shine a light Shine a light light

So shine a light Shine a light

With all my best wishes

Two weeks ago,
met my schoolmate on the street and learned that one of our teachers L broke her arms for almost two months,
since I am the kind of coordinator among our school friends,
thus I passed the message to F. and with the mobile phone number of Ms. L.

Tonight,
F called and told me that she phoned Ms. L and got the update that she had an operation,
as after the accident of her broken arm,
with a further medical check up,
something was found in her lung,
she has been in the hospital for almost two months,
and just came home two days ago,
she is still in her recovery phase,
and also,
she needs togo through several treatments,
I hope she can recover as soon as possible,
even though it will be a long battle!
