“Hello. I am Chinese. I want to buy woods.”(英語:我是中國人,我要買木頭。)

  “Que?

Song - Longer

Dan Fogelberg - Longer

Longer than every fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens
I'be been in love with you
(I am in love with you)

Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I am in love with you

I'll bring fire in the winters
You'll sent showers in the springs
We'll fly through the falls
And summers with love upon my wings

Through the years
As the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks
And the pages start to yellow
I'll be in love with you
I'll be in love with you

Song -

If you had one hour to live and could make just one phone call, who would it be to? What would you say? And why are you waiting?

Richard Carlson's sudden, tragic death in December of 2006, left his millions of fans reeling, but even their many letters, calls and e-mails couldn't erase the loss felt by his wife and partner, Kristine. To assuage her grief, she pored over a quarter century's supply of love letters, reliving the emotions and cherishing her late husband's memory. And in a profoundly moving act of healing, she focused on one letter full of particularly apt questions, which Richard gave to her on their 18th wedding anniversary, answering them with keen insight and fresh passion.

An Hour to Live, and Hour to Love is Richard's letter to his beloved Kris, and her heartfelt response. Both an intimate look inside a special relationship and a gift to the many people whose lives were changed by Richard's work, it will have readers everywhere wondering how they themselves would answer these questions.

Night Food Market in " Hong Kong" Temple

This afternoon, went out to do some grocery shopping, passed by the Hong Kong Temple area.

They have already decorated and prepared for the night market which will be started tomorrow.

There are two areas, one is for local food, one is for the Taiwanese food (which is closer to the Ponte 16).

For the local food, there is only one stand with people working there, but for the Taiwanese area, all the stands are ready for business.

As it was around 5, there were not many eaters. I don't understand why the market opens after Christmas time, but not during Christmas, as there should be more tourists looking for delicious food.

It seems that there are many typical Taiwanese food - the pan-fried oyster cake, the fish cake, the thin noodles, the beef noodles.... which we seldom have in Macau. I visited the night market in Taiwan, and I remember the price is not as expensive as in this market.

Anyway, as I can see, all the stands here are with famous name, they are trying to promote their food, with the cost on travelling here, there should be a cost in the price!!!

I didn't try for it was still early, not for dinner time yet. But if I eat here, I think just a little bit in each stand, it will cost a lot!!!

Portuguese Restaurants in Macau

My recommendation on eating Portuguese food in Macau

A Lorcha (船屋餐廳)
O Manel (阿曼葡國餐) in Taipa
Espaço Lisboa (里斯本地帶餐廳)
Fernando's (法蘭度餐廳) in Coloane
D. Afonso III (in Rua Central)

Clube Militar de Macau (陸軍俱樂部)

Estabelecimento de Comidas Tokyo

The name is something like Tokyo eating shop, but it is nothing related to Japan nor Japanese food.

Actually, it is a noodle shop, the style is more close to the South Asia Style.

I like the slices of chicken meat with oily noodles mixed with the soy sauce, served with a small plate of fresh onion in chilly sauce and a small bowl of soup.

There are also several kinds of deep fried snack to go with, such as spring rolls.

There are always plenty of the people eating there as it is located in a busy area near Red market. Business starts in afternoon, so, one cannot eat breakfast nor lunch over there, but it opens until very late, a place for late supper.

The famous dish is the noodles with pig' brain!!!! I didn't try, but my friends said that nothing special.

1-C, Rot Carlos Maia 1C

“Lai Kei” Gelados

It is an old shop in Ho Lan Un. It is a family business, and it has a long history in Macau, most of us know it well.

It is a good place to have a cold drink with friends. They also offer instant noodles, sandwiches and drinks.

All the ice-cream are home-made by the owners, very original favor. I like the Taro ice-cream and the red-bean ice-bar.

During summer, even though in the supermarket, there are plenty of choices for ice-creams, I still like to stop by the shop and buy half dozen to store in my refrigerator.

I like ice-cream, I like the old favor!

Location : Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida No. 12

Restaurante “Long Va”

It is a traditional Chinese restaurant near Red Market, as it is not on the ground floor, it is easy to pass by and not realise that there is a tea house on second floor.

I went there few times, as I was attracted by the promotion that it is a smoke free restaurant, and my father likes Yam Cha, we always tea in different places.

Actually, last time, I saw some Hong Kong people had tea over there.

It is not too difficult to get tables. Even though in Summer, they don't have air-conditioning, but it is comfortable, as there are plenty of windows.

The food there are very traditional, no surprise, nor the service. But I can have a very cultural eating environment as the owner has plenty of art collections there.

Eating Street in Macau - Rua da Felicidade

Today is 25 December.

When I was out, as usual, I passed by the famous Rua da Felicidade. I saw a lot of people queuing in front of the shops for the famous food such as the shark's fin soups, Wan Tan Noodles.

Many people were holding the guide books and were patiently waiting for the recommended food.

This street is very famous for food, as whether people look for places to eat or not, the tourists would like to stop by this place and buy some gifts for friends - the Chinese cookes, peanut candy, egg rolls and all kinds of sweets can be found here, especially, the famoust shops - "Choi Heong Yuen" and "Koi Kei", they have the stores in this area.

Actually, there are many eating shops and restaurants in this street, the most famous and oldest are Sai Nam Restaurant(Chinese), Lei Hong Kei Restaurant (Chinese) and the Fat Siu Lau Restaurant(Portuguese), Cheong Kei Noodles, Tai Sam Un Congee. They have been there for many years ago.

It seems to me that most of the others were newly opened in the recent few years only, like the shark's fin stores, there are more than five in this area.

The name of the street means "prosperity", it used to be the street where the prostitutes worked and lived.

The street is not very long, but it is narrow, only one car can pass through. However, it is near the main street - San Ma Lou.

All the houses there are only 2-3 floors height and the outlook of the houses are quite similar. I remember my father told me, most of the houses are used to be owned by one person.

Few years ago, the Government spent money to renovate the houses for the owners few years ago, all the windows and the doors of the houses were painted in red ( it was very ambiguous, as nearby, there is another street called - "Red Window Door Street" - in Portuguese Rua Alfandega).

The street is famous now for it attracts many visitors to come for the delicious food, not for the GIRLS!!

Today, I can see the long queues in front of Cheong Kei Noodels and the Tim Fat Shark's fin soups.

Good Choices!?

Afternoon Tea

I like to have high tea with my father or my friends in weekends or holidays.

I usually have several familiar places to go.

1. Sai Van On Kei - it is an old coffee shop in Macau, actually the first one is located in Sai Van, where my primary school is in. I used to pass by the shop every day when I was small.

I like the curry fish bun (the Portuguese crispness Piggy Bun). It is very delicious. they also have the curry meat bun, and also pan-fried/deep fried pork chop bun and/or spaghetti. ( It seems to me they sold the Pork Chop Bun long long time ago, but many shops claim that they were the first one to sell the famous Pork Chop Bun). As Sai Van On Kei has very good business, they started to open several shops in Macau, I remember one is near Central, one is near Beijing Street.

Nam Ping Ngai Chui - it is an old coffee shop in Rua de Cinco de Outubro. I like the egg sandwich and also the hot egg tart. In the afternoon, there are always plenty of eaters there.

3. Angela Cafe - I like the club sandwich and chef Salad. Most of the time, I need to wait for the table.

4. Cantina in University Macau (Margaret’s Café e Nata (瑪嘉烈餅店)) - hot dishes,Portuguese egg tart and or tuna fish sandwich, and several options too. My friend enjoys the coffee.

5.Andrew Stow 's bakery (安德魯餅店)in Coloane , Portuguese egg tarts, sandwich and several nice light dishes and comfortable place to spend few hours there, if not many customers.

6. Macau Cafe near Hotel Sintra - I discovered this place not long ago, food is quite good, but my experience for the service was bad. In addition, many people smoke inside the shop.

7. Restaurant in Hotel S.Tiago - Good environment, and I can also have the tea-set.

8. Restaurant in Hotel Westin - Good environment !!!

9. Starbucks - I don't have many choices since I don't drink coffee, but I like the bakery.

10. McDonald's - my last choice! Fish sandwich and or sausage with egg & cheese muffin. Burger - no, thanks. Don't like the drinks there, as there are not many choices, I don't drink coffee nor cold soft drinks.

Actually, when I was in Singapore, I discovered that there are many places to have a drink in anytime anyplace there, so good!!

N.S. P recommended me Cafe Honolulu is also a good place to have a cup of tea/coffee there, and some of the shops are also smoke free too.

A Small Business Man from Mainland China

Yesterday, met uncle Pou on the street, and I introduced him to my father.

He told my father that I was very smart. I think he was over-praised me, but I worked very hard for my previous boss.

I knew Uncle Pou when I got my first job back from States. He was a sole proprietor to offer the delivery service for the HK customers who bought Chinese furniture in Macau. Even though there were many similar furniture shops on the street, he knew that we had a very good business, as we always shipped many furniture to HK.

It reminds me of my boss of that job. I want to summarise what I learned from this " Chinese Business Man"( Knowing well the Chinese furniture industry, he first diversified and later on he changed his business and now he is no more in this field!!!!).

My boss (H) is from mainland China, and all his family members are in China too. At that time, he realised that Macau money was better than CCY, that was why he set up business in Macau(now he only owns business in China, as CCY is more attractive !!!) He got the chance to get a Macau ID, then he came to Macau. He told me he had many jobs before, so he knew the hard way of living, another way to say, he started from zero to what he had at that time.

He didn't receive formal education nor speak English, but he knew the way to communicate. He could finish the deals with foreigners in busy days when I was pretty busy on receiving the other customers, as our shop was very big.

He set up his Chinese furniture factory in China, then exported to Macau to sell, target customers were Portuguese and the British in HK.

He also provided furniture to some Hong Kong furniture shops, I was once very puzzled that one Hong Kong guy was very unfair to him, but still he accepted the request (Later on, I realised that H was looking for a long term business, and also it was a way to get rid of the products in the factories - for the turnover is more important for the business, it is no use to keep the stocks all the time, cash is cow!!!)

To be honest, H is not a hard-working person, but he used his brain. By the time I looked for the job, right after I came back, he interviewed me for a short time and he asked what did I expect for salary.

I gave an amount close to my previous summer job in Macau, and insisted that I wanted for a commission, so that we could have a win-win situation. He immediately promised and in a very short time later on, he and his wife had a good trust on me (Later on, we did have a win-win situation, I was very happy with my selling record and also met the clients all over the world).

My careering as "selling representative" started immediately, I worked almost every day. His business was quite good. I received all kinds of customers, and I learned from the customers as well as from H.

H always told me trust/honesty is important. When I offered the furniture price, even though if I made a mistake of the price, I should not change the price again, otherwise the customer would not believe or come back.

He insisted this principle for many times, but it was contrast to his wife, who was very careful of the money. She wanted to earn all the money, even though one dollar, at the beginning, she didn't understand why his husband hired me at such a high cost, more than the current market price - but later on, she was smart enough to know that I had a value for their business !! Overall, H had a long term view of business.

We didn't have a fix-pricing (but rather flexible pricing) in the shop, and it depended on the business, if it was very slow, even though customers stopped by, he charged me to lower the price in order to finish the deals. But I should had a good memory of the offered price, as customers would like to stop by for many times before making the decision.

Another strategy I learned from him was that , he knew the people liked to compared prices, for the first two or three pieces, he would lower the price to attract customers, once customer decided to order a whole house of furniture, he was very careful of the pricing of the rest, that meant the marginal benefit for the customers had reduced, instead, he mentioned that he would offer better follow-up service, so that he could secure his profit, some customers accepted this as they also realised that there was a cost to search for the other furniture in the other shops.

I was started to in-charge of the whole shop all the time, from the money, the keys and the products. He started to open more shops, from one to three, one of them was a huge shop, like the storage. Business was quite good, I also went to China to bring the buyers to check the furniture for exporting business.

He said that this could tell the customers that there were a lot of products to choose, whenever they spend more time in the shop, they will buy more. He knew what the customers think.

He told me once in a while, change the furniture's position, so that people can have a new look whenever they stop by.

When I was in China's factory, I could see the factory was very big, actually, he had supervisors to help him to organise the daily operation, so that he could have time to travel and went to Macau.

He himself in-charge of the purchasing (this was important, as the raw Chinese furniture cost a high % of the selling price, while the labor cost and the transportation cost were comparatively lower, he himself knew the conditions and the cost of the purchasing) . Only once in a while, he came back to Macau to see the retail business, and got the money back to China for the wages of the labors.

He also knew that relationship to the government department is important. His wife is also a smart woman, and provides help for him once in a while especially the customer relations. Whenever oversea buyers visited the factory, she helped a lot of the arrangement, from meals to transport.

Business is business, the smart business man needs to use his brain, but honesty and trust are the most important things.

Information in the Leaflet

Yesterday received a promotion leaflet on the busy street, the paper was colorful printed, I was thinking to throw it away, but later on, I think I can get at least some information with it. Therefore, brought home and have a look.

It was from a Ginseng and Dried Seafood Shop, it emphases that they are offering promotional sales.

However, as a consumer, I don't like the information manipulated by the shop.

The products listed have different weight units - some in ounce, some in catty, some in pound. A bigger number was put, and delected with a red line, then a smaller amount below ( phycological effect!!!)

As I also shop every day (sometimes I am a smart buyer, sometimes not), I realise that for some products, it is unreasonable to assoicate weight with the unapproporate weight unit, therefore, I think the shop may mislead the careless buyers.

It reminds me from the HK news, I heard similar report like this.

I think a succesful business should be honest.

I would like to share some of the lessons from my previous boss who was a smart and successful businessman (sometimes it is hard to define by what is sucessful, but if someone is happy with what he has, then he can be succesful!!!)

Loja de Sopa de Fitas em Macau - Noodles Shop in Macau

For me, I can live my life with noodles only, as noodles is my favorite food.

From fried noodles to soup noodles, from Chinese noodles - Cantonese style, Shanghainese to the northern style, to Japanese, Vietnamese, Burmese or the Thai style noodles......I like all of them.

In Macau, I am lucky, for I can eat many different kinds of noodles.

For chinese traditional noodels, I can choose Wong Chi Kei(黃枝記), Cheong Kei and Fung Shing Chu Kei Noodle Expert(鳳城珠記). Lok Kei congee and noodles shop(六記粥麵) at Sha Lei Tau(沙梨頭) and Weng Luen Kei noodles shop(聯記麵家)at the Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida are also good choices.

In area of Rotunda de Carlos da Maia (三盞燈), there are also many Burmese noodles shops, their flavorful fish soup, oily noodles and bean pie, coconut flavored chicken noodles, all of them are very delicious.

On the other hand, in all kinds of different eating shops in Macau, there are choices of Japanese Noodles, Shanghainese noodles, Vietnamese noodles, Thai noodles.

Not to mentioned that in the western style restaurants -e.g. Italian restaurant, I can have choice of spaghetti or the angel noodles.

I think it makes Macau so typical, as we can find so many different kinds of noodles here. Wonderful!!

Steamed Egg Pudding with Walnut Paste

Delicious dessert !! It only costs CCY8 (year ago, it was only CCY6, and people could pay MOP too, but not now, as CCY has appreciated).

For me, I think it is a best value dessert. The other weekend, had a similar dessert in causeway bay in HK, it cost HKD15.

There are also plenty of choices in this little shop (actually, originally, it sold herb tea, but now it diversifies the business by selling desserts).

The little shop is in the basement of the big mall which is located next to the Gongbei Border, China.

By the time of eating, I was thinking the costing of making it by myself - shopping, preparing and cooking.I also think of the economics theories - comparatively economics and economic of scales.

How the chefs are cooking the desserts in the kitchen, for me, my cost for making it at home will be more than that !!!!

I always like to stop by that shop to taste the hot desserts !!

Merry Christmas 2009

Young Wife To Heaven (Part 1)

Heard the news that she has passed away.

It is less than a year, and she has left him and went back to heaven.

She was young, and her husband, is around 30 only. Last Christmas, they were happily preparing for the wedding which was planned in this April.

I still remember well their parents were very happy to share the engagement news with me several months ago.

Unfortunately, it was only in this February, it was discovered that she got the brain cancer. It was not a person's illness, but two families'.

He loves her so much, even though the chance for living longer was very slim, he tried all the best to get the good doctor for her.

She immediately started to receive the treatment and operations. The banquet ceremony was cancelled, but he followed the plan to have the marriage registration, to give her a title.

These past few months, I heard the news that he was very tired and exhausted, he went to HK hospital to see her and take care of her if possible, in addition of his tight work schedule.

He has changed a lot, for he was getting very depressed and a little strange tamper, and he could not express himself well.

His parents are very hurt, to see his son suffering like this.

Now, she is gone.

Hope tomorrow is another sunny day for him!!

Sunshine

On Tuesday morning, a lady phoned-in the radio program to comment for the new CEO's plan for the "sunshine" Government.

When I heard of sunshine, I remember the writer "Tou Kit" once wrote - "Where ever there is sunshine, there is hope".

She said that there is not enough only improving for the government, but also for the city. As our city is getting a lot of noise, air and light pollution, we should deal with the problems of having plenty of people, cars, casinos and less tress and less recreation facilities. We should make a better and healthy environment, a sunshine city!!

The person in-charged of the program commented that the meaning for the CEO is to get a transparent government, free of corruption.

Any way, I think if referring to "sunshine" , I think I like " Tou Kit" 's meaning, we are looking for HOPE for Macau, for the government, for the people and for the city!!!

Truffle Templation from Pizza Hut

Have a delicious lunch - (黑松露菌) Truffle pizza, Truffle rice, Portuguese style baked vegetables, and one seafood rice with my colleagues in Pizza Hut...... Wonderful!! Full of holiday mood, with the Christmas jingles.

But if the portion is bigger, much better !!!!

Ah Yat Abalone Seafood Restaurant

It is a new renovated restaurant located in the casino area, the original name was Tung Wu. But now, it has been upgraded to a more higher class restaurant.

There is one in Hotel Fortune, 7F, I went to the first flagship restaurant several years ago, the eating experience was very pleasant with the delicious abalone.

Have a Yam Cha there, it took long time to get the table, during lunch hour.

The Dim Sum is very good, I like Shrimp Dumpling, the "whole chicken served with one wooden bucket" and the Fried White Radish Patty. The restaurant is spacious, and it is very comfortable. Service is acceptable.

Actually, there are some cash coupons which can be bought in the market, overall in 60% of the ticket value.

Nevertheless, for cash or Visa Card payment, customer still can also enjoy 29% off from the menu price!!!

Lessons from My Uncles

Yesterday had family dinner with my two uncles and the family members.

Simultaneously, during the dinner, they gave me lessons.

My elder uncle told me he met one high rank officer whom he gave eight words to him, I can also be awared of these words:

One who is charged with a very heavy responsibility and in front there is a long way to go, excellent and brilliant horse ????!!!!

My uncle said that a question mark or exclamation mark be put at the end of these words, it is up to the person to decide!!

My uncle encouraged me to read a lot of Chinese newspapers to improve the Chinese writing, since we are Chinese.

The lesson from my youngest uncle was - charity starts at home, we should try to help others whenever possible, since we are lucky, therefore we should be grateful of what we have. There are many people they are living in a poor condition, and cannot receive education, we should offer our help whenever we could.

I will bear in mind of those lessons.

Chiu Kei

Had a family dinner in a small Chinese restaurant.

It was crowded and full, and many people were eating their dinner in this small restaurant. Luckily, we had a private room upstairs.

We had plenty of food - big lobsters with noodles, pigeons, a big chicken, fish, pork, vegetables.......lots of food. At the end of meal, besides the fruit, we also had a cheese cake for dessert.

The dinner was good in overall, the shop was not in Central area, but it is opposite to the "little tortoise" fried noodles (the fried noodles is pretty good).

One disappointing thing was that I missed the beautiful firework in this significant day!!

President Hu pins hopes on Chui’s government

http://www.macaudailytimes.com.mo/macau/7208-President-pins-hopes-Chuis-government.html

Natalie Leung

The 10th anniversary of the founding of the Macau SAR was not only marked by the two-day celebration events, but also the 28-hour visit of President Hu Jintao who has promised to give Macau a pair of pandas and also pinned hopes on the third-term SAR government led by Chief Executive Fernando Chiu Sai On.

The Macau government started the big day at 8am yesterday with a flag rising ceremony at the Golden Lotus Square.

It was followed by the inauguration of the principal officials of the new SAR government at the Macau Dome, where around 1,400 officials from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau and also public figures were invited to witness the special moment.
Mr Chui entered the venue along with the President, and stepped onto the stage shortly to swear in as the Chief Executive of the Macau SAR, which was administered by President Hu.

The ceremony marked the official end of Edmund Ho Hau Wah’s term of office who had been heading Macau over the past decade after the 1999 handover.

The key government officials and the Public Prosecutor-General afterwards took their oaths, administered by President Hu and the Third Chief Executive of Macau.
The Executive Council members also swore in on the stage.

Delivering his first speech as formally being the Macau Chief Executive, Mr Chui said for years the motherland had always been a “strong backing” to the maintenance of Macau’s prosperity and stability,, “Ten years ago, when the regional flag of Macao rose by the side of the five-star red flag, the concept of ‘one country, two systems’ started to inject new dynamics into Macao,” Mr Chui said.

“We have been unswervingly implementing the principle of ‘one country, two systems’, under which Macao people administer Macao with a high degree of autonomy and the Basic Law of Macao SAR,” he added.

According to the former social affairs and culture secretary, the third-term government would “firmly adhere” to the “people-oriented” concept of governance, and would inherit and innovate.

When looking to the future, Mr Chui said Macau should in the next five years “actively promote diversified development at an appropriate level”.
He stressed that attention would also be put on the convention and exhibition logistics industries, cultural and creative industry as well as the upgrade and transformation of the traditional industries apart from enhancing the regulation on gaming.

“We will continue to optimise the allocation of government resources on medical care facilities and education. We will carry out the construction of public housing and urban planning and try our best to improve Macao people’s lives,” Mr Chui said.
“...We will pay special attention to training and preserving of talents, optimise human resources, raise our competitiveness and make sure that the great cause of ‘one country, two systems’ will be carried on from generation to generation,” he added.

President Hu Jintao, who arrived in Macau on Saturday morning with his wife Liu Yongqing and a delegation of government officials, then gave a 16-minute speech at the end of the inauguration.

President Ho recognised Edmund Ho Hau Wah’s contribution in maintaining Macau’s prosperity and stability and also making the territory progress despite all the challenges and difficulties during the past 10 years.
Reviewing the decade of experience of Macau, he highlighted five main points which the SAR must continue to uphold.

“First, it is important to have a correct interpretation of the principle of ‘one country, two systems’ and enforce it accordingly,” the President said.
He added that the key was to safeguard Macau’s original socio-economic system and living style, but at the same time also defend national sovereignty, unity and security, and respect the socialist system being exercised in the country.

“Second, it is important to strictly adhere to the Macau Basic Law, which reigns supreme in Macau legal system.

“Third, [Macau] must concentrate on promoting development. Through the wisdom and efforts of all Macau people, we can devote more attention to all-round, coordinated and sustainable development, thus enhancing its resistance to all kinds of financial risks.”

“Fourth, [Macau] should safeguard social harmony and stability by all means. Having a good security environment, peaceful social ambience and stable development is a luck shared by the entire Macau society,” President Hu said.

Lastly, the President reiterated that it is necessary to nurture different types of talents in a bid to raise the competitiveness of Macau in a long term basis.
In the meeting after the inauguration, the President congratulated Mr Chui on assuming office as Macau’s third-term Chief Executive. He said that the central government placed extensive trust in Mr Chui and hoped he would not let people down in uniting the SAR and leading it towards a better future.

President Hu said Mr Chui should work based on the following beliefs - putting people as the first priority, uniting Macau, enhancing government efficiency and also upholding integrity.

In a separate meeting with representatives from different local sectors, including the former Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah, President Ho called for social unity and all people’s support for the new government in promoting growth and stability.
President Hu afterwards inspected the People’s Liberation Army Macau Garrison, and praised them for their important role in maintaining Macau’s prosperity and stability.

Hengqin campus construction began

President Hu, accompanied by Chief Executive Chui Sai On and State Councillor Liu Yandong, laid the foundation stone of the new campus of the University of Macau (UM) on Hengqin Island in the afternoon.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Liu said that building the university campus on Hengqin was a “significant strategy” of the central government in supporting Macau’s education development.

She said she believed that the UM had played a vital role in nurturing local talents and the new campus would further enhance this role by providing the institution with more space for development.

Stressing the President’s expectations on the university, Ms Liu said she hoped it would become one of the best tertiary institutions in the world, with world class facilities, faculties, talents and research.

Meanwhile, Mr Chui said the SAR government would use the project as a starting point for establishing closer co-operation with Guangdong and also regional integration in line with the “Reform of the Pearl River Delta Region Development Plan”.
Covering about 1.09 square kilometres, the Hengqin campus is about 20 times the size of the existing campus in Taipa.

After the construction is completed in three years’ time, the campus will be able to accommodate up to 10,000 students.

Since Macau is allowed to exercise jurisdiction over the campus, local residents commuting between the new facility and Macau will not be subject to immigration checks.

The President returned to Beijing after the groundbreaking ceremony at around 5pm, marking the end of his second visit in Macau since 2004.
According to director of the Chinese Liaison Office in Macau, Bai Zhijian, who summarised the Chinese delegation’s Macau trip to the media, said that President Hu wished Mr Chui could “pass on the successful experiences from the past and continue the good traditions, but have an innovative mind when facing problems and also uphold the ‘five main points’ in the future”.

Mr Bai also said the President’s visits to the Science Centre, a local family (the three generations in the family all worked in the teaching profession) and the Hengqin campus showed that he paid “high attention to education and training of talents”.

The SAR government afterwards hosted a cocktail reception to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau SAR at the Macau Tower.
In addition, Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau performed at the Macau Stadium in the afternoon, which attracted thousands of people to celebrate the anniversary day with some popular Chinese songs.

At 9pm, Macau gave its largest-scale firework display ever at seven different locations to conclude the two day long celebration activities.

Amorous Macau

Those are the old local life and culture in Macau, some may not be seen easily now in town .

Dragon Boat Jingles唱龍舟 - may be disappeared!

Drunken Dragon醉龍- we still have this, as this is one of the big annual events in town.

Hopscotch跳飛機 - don't know whether the children play or not, but we used to pay this in the school playground.

Jackstones 抓子 - kids' game, I wonder whether it became history or not, as the kids have plenty of toys, especially for the girls.

Cartoon Cards拍公仔紙 - this is the boy's game, they have a large collection of the cards, the collection worth a lot of money, and sometimes I heard from them, they could earn money too.

Those are the delicious of traditional food and dessert.... I like them!!

Maltose Bonbon
Cha Cha Dessert
Rice Noodle Rolls
Rooster Olives

Va Kei Ka Lei Min Sek ( Curry Beef Noodles)

Delicious Curry Beef Noodles, I used to eat in the shop near Red Market, there should be another one which is near Hotel Holiday!

However I don't like the portion, it is too small, I need to eat two.

Last time, when F came back to visit from Canada, I also brought her to taste the beef noodles, she told me it was expensive in Canada, she enjoyed very much too!!

Song - Child

When you were born into this world
Your mom and dad saw a dream fulfilled
Dream come true
The answer to their prayers

You were to them a special child
Gave 'em joy every time you smiled
Each time you cried
They're at your side to care

Child, you don't know
You'll never know how far they'd go
To give you all their love can give
To see you through and God it's true
They'd die for you, if they must, to see you live

How many seasons came and went
So many years have now been spent
For time ran fast
And now at last you're strong

Now what has gotten over you
You seem to hate your parents too
Do speak out your mind
Why do you find them wrong

Child you don't know
You'll never know how far they'd go
To give you all their love can give
To see you through and God it's true
They'd die for you, if they must, to see you live

And now your path has gone astray
Child you ain't sure what to do or say
You're so alone
No friends are on your side

And child you now break down in tears
Let them drive away your fears
Where must you go
Their arms stay open wide

Child you don't know
You'll never know how far they'd go
To give you all their love can give
To see you through and God it's true
They'd die for you, if they must, to see you live

Child you don't know
You'll never know how far they'd go
To give you all their love can give
To see you through and God it's true
They'd die for you, if they must, to see you live

Song - See you in Heaven

it's hard to say goodbye, my friend,
but this waiting can't last forever;
sooner or later the sun must set
ending this time together.
i wish that i had one more chance
to spend another day with you,
and even though i know i can
i'll see you in heaven.

the only thing that hurts more than losing you
are all of the years of living without you.
i wanna run back to you
and show you the life i've lived without you,
'cause living without you is the only thing that hurts
more than you.

i see a picture of a little child,
standing alone, wondering where you are.
i can't believe how this child has grown,
living this life, sometimes so alone.
wishing i had one more chance
to have you hold me once again,
now even though i know you can
you'll hold me in heaven.

i've let so many years of life go by
thinking it's all worked out.
now i realize i do now
to say that it's over and let you go for now.
still, i wish that i had one more chance
to say i love you one more time,
and even though i know i can
i'll say it in heaven.

i'll see you in heaven . . .

Japanese Cuisine

Originally, we planned to eat in 肥仔文 of Taipa, but it was closed, I don't know whether it opens for dinner or today is a public holiday.

We just walked around in Taipa to find some place to eat, and we stopped by one Japanese Restaurant.

When I read the menu, I saw the sentence - the seafood are from 築地 of Japan. Should be quality food!! A also realised that the Chef speaks Japanese fluently with one of the Japanese female customers.

At the same time, I was thinking there are really several nice places for Japanese food - one is closed to my house - a couple sells the Japanese pan-fried prizza, very resonable and delicious meal too!!

The price of this restaurant is fair, we had three lunch sets and some extra orders.

Overall, I like the Salmon, the grilled fish and the noodles.

But I think I miss the the fresh seafood in fish market of 築地, where I had a very delicious brunch!! Although I had to wait in front of the shop before enjoying the meal, as there were so many customers there, the price was a little bit expensive, but for the quality, it is worth !!!

Macaroni with home-made tomato soup

On the way to hike this morning, stopped by one small eating shop in downtown Coloane - "Chiu Un Kei Cafe"

This shop has a long history, I remembered that I ate there for few times with my father, who liked to visit downtown Coloane as one of his friend - Uncle Fai is the honourable citizen there, we visited him once in a while, especially the April 8 of the Lunar Calender - I used to have sandwich and hot-drink there.

But this morning, as F and A just ordered the food to take away, then I followed them to have a closer look of the kitchen and observed the cashier desk, and also the food the people eating in the shop.

I realised that the famous food is the "Macaroni with home-made tomato soup", many people ordered this, and I could also see the kitchen - the preparation of the soup!!!

It should be delicious, especially in a chilly day, a bowl of hot soup, I will try this the other time!

Daily Economics

Economics of scale - make a bowl of steamed egg pudding cost half an hour, but making ten bowls of pudding cost only 1 hour.

External effects - the fortune bus of the casions offer free ride to their guests, some residents can enjoy the free transportation to certain destinations.

Marginal cost-10 dollars to get five oranges, after paying 10 dollars, the old lady asked to get one more organge by paying 1 dollar, the additional orange's cost = the marginal cost = 1 dollar, not the original 2 dollars/organge.

Opportunity cost - have a nice dinner but miss the beautiful firework.

Coloane Trail

What a beautiful Sunday, especially today is Dec 20!!

On this special day, I went out to have a hike with F and A.

On our bus ride from Macau to Coloane, we saw a lot of policemen working very hard on the streets in the Taipa area. Actually, the bus had to change the route, to use the Sai Van Bridge instead, some stops in Tapia were also cancelled due to security reason, as the Beijing leaders were in town and were in the big ceremony in the near-by area.

On the other part of Taipa, outside the Stadium , we also saw the fans started to wait for this afternnon's Andy Lau Concert.

When we arrived Coloane, it was very quiet, like the normal day, except some shops closed for today's holiday.

Had a wonderful walk in the hill side of Coloane island, did breathe-in a lot of fresh air, saw varieties of green trees/plants and got closer to the nature. We spent about 2.5 hours over there.

It was a good walk. We hiked along the trail as well as the Ma Chou Statue.

There are several trails to different places too: Seac Pai Van Park, Cheoc Van Barbecue Park, Hac Sa Reservoir Barbecue Park, and Ka Ho Height Barbecue Park.

This is alos the longest hiking trail in Macau.

By the time we came back, we saw the armies and their trucks left as well, they were on the way back to China by using the Lotus Bridge.

It seems that we were monitoring the progress of the events for today, in different areas.

Shanghainese Food

Shanghainese Food is one of my favorite food, there are several places I like to eat.

The first one is the Old Shanghai in Hotel Kam Tou, the second is the Chi Un in Hotel Royal. "Four Five Six" is also a good one, but the price is a little bit expensive.

Once I ate in a high class Shanghainese restaurant in Zhuhai, it is located in the one inside the " Silva Capital" hotel. There were a lot of varieties for selection.

Actually, in Central area, it is easy to find Shanghainess Restaurant, two of them are near the Largo Senado.

Besides the spice and scour hot soup, the shanghainese dim sum, I also like the dessert!!

Angela Cafe

The first one is in New Yahan department store building. The second one is inside the Macau Musem.

I like the club sandwich and the chefe salad. Good for lunch or tea.

In the afternoon, they also offer tea-set !!!

Lord Stow's Bakery

http://www.lordstow.com/

Andrew Stow......

Many people like the famous Portuguese Tart, I also like the sandwiches. Besides the one in Nam Wan, there are shops in Coloane. In Macau University, they also provide the service for the students.

There is one shop near the bus-stationin downtown of Coloane, very good environment inside the Cafe, there are also some tables at the backyard.

Overthere, they also provide nice tea/coffee and some hot dishes.

Good for afternoon tea with friends.

Here are the pictures that I ate last time:

珠記Wan Ton Noodles

The flagship shop is near Central area.

I ate there since I was small, the famous one is the Wan Ton Noodles. It is convenient, just go in the shop, order the food, and within short time, the noodles is ready.

When it it cold, it is good to have a hot bowl of noodles, at MOP13 only, but I think it is not as good as before, still they open more shops in different area in Macau, and many tourists locate the shop and taste the famous noodles

發達 Vietnamese Food

This is a small eating shop in Rua Sacadura Cabral, it serves delicious Vietnamese food in very reasonable price, from mid-day to mid-night.

Delicious noodles, slice of chicken meat, spring rolls, dessert....but don't expect very high customer service, and sometimes it is quite slow to serve your food!

Wish there are some more Vietnamese Food eating shop in Macau.

Buffets

I started to like buffet dinners or lunch, since I was in college as I ate in the food service for every meal in the college, and it is self-help service with buffet style.

I can choose whatever I like and it can save a lot of time.

Even though I cannot eat all of them, I think I can enjoy a lot by seeing all kinds of food, and the price is fixed, no matter how much I eat.

In Macau, I have several places I like to eat for buffets:

Hotel Sintra ( lunch buffet and weekend dinner buffet)
Hotel New Lisboa (Grand Buffet - lots of choices of the dishes, really wonderful!)
Hote Lisboa
Hotel Four Seasons ( Portuguese and some other countries, like Indian, Chinese.....)
Clube Military ( only lunch buffet) ( Portuguese food!!!)

I am going to discover some more places

Restaurant Fernando

Fernando is the name of the owner of this portuguese restuarant.

It is in Hac Sac of Coloane, and it takes time to get there. However, as it is very famous, many tourists like to go to this restaruant to taste the Portuguese dishes.

For me, I am not tourist, but I also like the BBQ tiny pig and the fish over there.

The restuarnt is big, there is a rear hall at the back of the restaurant, with air-conditioned while the front one is like an open-area.

There is also one backyard with few tress and a area with bar tables for drinking.

Usually, it takes time to get table, especially during meal hours of weekends. It seems to me that they do not accept telephone reservation, and there is no service charge, service is OK, and the portion of the dish is big.

Most of all, I also enjoy the fresh load of bread served before the meal, it is hot and delicious !!

The Illiterate Surgeon

By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
Published: June 12, 2005
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia

Just about the worst thing that can happen to a teenage girl in this world is to develop an obstetric fistula that leaves her trickling bodily wastes, stinking and shunned by everyone around her. That happened four decades ago to Mamitu Gashe.

But the most amazing thing about Ms. Mamitu is not what she endured but what she has become.

Ms. Mamitu's story begins when she was an illiterate 15-year-old in a remote Ethiopian village unreachable by road and with no doctor nearby. She married a local man, became pregnant and after three days of labor, she lapsed into unconsciousness and the baby was stillborn.

"After I woke up, the bed was wet" with urine, she remembers. "I thought I would get better after two or three days, but I didn't."

That's typically how an obstetric fistula arises: a teenage girl, often malnourished and with an immature pelvis, tries to deliver her first baby. The fetus gets stuck, and after several days of labor it is stillborn - but some of the mother's internal tissues have been damaged in that time, and so to her horror she finds herself constantly trickling urine or sometimes feces from her vagina.

Soon she stinks. Her husband normally abandons her, the constant trickle of urine leaves her with terrible sores on her legs, and if she survives at all she is told to build a hut away from the rest of the village and to stay away from the village well. Some girls die of infections or suicide, but many linger for decades as pariahs and hermits - their lives effectively over at the age of about 15.

Fistulas were common in America in the 19th century. But improved medical care means that they are now almost unknown in the West, while the United Nations has estimated that at least two million girls and women live with fistulas in the developing world, mostly in Africa.

This should be an international scandal, because a $300 operation can normally repair the injury. A major effort to improve maternal health in the developing world should be a no-brainer, for it could prevent most fistulas and reduce deaths in childbirth by half within a decade, saving 300,000 lives a year.

But maternal health is woefully neglected, and those suffering fistulas are completely voiceless - young, female, poor, rural and ostracized. They are the 21st century's lepers.

Ms. Mamitu was exceptionally lucky in that she was brought to a hospital here in Addis Ababa that offered free surgery by a saintly husband and wife pair of gynecologists from Australia, Reginald and Catherine Hamlin. Reg is now dead, while Catherine is the Mother Teresa of our time and is long overdue for a Nobel Peace Prize.

After that operation, 42 years ago, Ms. Mamitu was given a job making beds in the hospital. Then she began helping out during surgeries, and after a couple of years of watching she was asked by Dr. Reg Hamlin to cut some stitches. Eventually, Ms. Mamitu was routinely performing the entire fistula repair herself.

Over the decades, Ms. Mamitu has gradually become one of the world's most experienced fistula surgeons. Gynecologists from around the world go to the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital to train in fistula repair, and typically their teacher is Ms. Mamitu.

Not bad for an illiterate Ethiopian peasant who as a child never went to a day of school.

A few years ago, Ms. Mamitu tired of being an illiterate master surgeon, and so she began night school. She's now in the third grade.

The Fistula Hospital where Ms. Mamitu works is nicknamed "puddle city" - because patients stroll around dripping urine - but it abounds with joy and hope.

President Bush has increased aid to the developing world generally and to Africa in particular, but a few days ago he rejected Tony Blair's appeal for a further dramatic increase in assistance for Africa. The real stakes in that rejection will be measured in lives like Ms. Mamitu's. I hope that Mr. Bush will reconsider - for the sake of people like those girls with fistula living in huts alone on the edges of hundreds of thousands of villages.

Ms. Mamitu shows us what a tragedy it would be to write them off. A couple of Australians once gave Ms. Mamitu a break, and so today Ms. Mamitu is not a victim at all, but an inspiration.

And, I hope, an inspiration to us to be more generous.

Gardener behind Africa's heart pioneer

By Alastair Leithead
BBC correspondent in Cape Town

The world knows the achievements of Professor Christian Barnard - the first man to carry out a heart transplant in his native South Africa.

It was 1967 at the height of apartheid.

But behind all the research and testing he carried out on animals that preceded the pioneering operation was a black South African called Hamilton Naki.

Employed at first as a gardener, Mr Naki worked his way up to become even more nimble-fingered on the operating table than Professor Barnard himself.

Those days you had to accept what they said as there was no other way you could go because it was the law of the land

Hamilton Naki

His work helped the first heart transplant become a reality and for years after that he passed on those skills to thousands of young surgeons.

Until recently his story was ignored, but now a film-maker hopes to change all that.

Professor Barnard carried out the first heart transplant in the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town where years earlier Mr Naki enrolled as a gardener.

Now a great-grandfather of 78 he lives in Langa township a few miles from the hospital - living on his gardener's pension.

But the research he did with animals paved the way to the pioneering operation.

"I was taken on to work in the garden. After a while I changed to work in the medical school in the clinical labs where they were working with dogs - eventually to work on open heart surgery and pulmonary bypass and so on."

"Here in South Africa nobody wanted to work with the animals as it was so dirty."

Life story

Film producer Dirk de Villiers is now working on a documentary of Mr Naki's life.

Professor Barnard died two years ago, but among the footage is an interview with the surgeon speaking about Mr Naki.

"I could see that he was a very capable young man and I gave him more and more to do and eventually he could do a heart transplant sometimes better than the junior doctors who came there."

Mr de Villiers, an old friend of Professor Barnard, is also making a biographical feature film called simply "Barnard".

He is giving Mr Naki a more important role than he had in reality - to redress the balance.

"I want justification to be done to Hamilton Naki because I think he's a remarkable man."

"I think that he's a role model for any young black man not even in South Africa but in the world. That is that you don't need to have the education or a certificate against a wall if you develop a skill."

He added that under apartheid there was very little recognition for a black man and he wanted Hamilton Naki to be recognised by the world "as one of the great researchers of all time in the field of heart transplants".

Mr Naki was given special permission to work, researching pioneering techniques with the animals in the laboratory.

Professor Barnard even said he was a better craftsman when it came to stitching than he was. Mr Naki said Professor Barnard had arthritis so he would often help him teach.

Accepting the system

When asked if he was disappointed he did not become a surgeon himself he replied: "Those days you had to accept what they said as there was no other way you could go because it was the law of the land."

The Groote Schuur Hospital still has photos of Mr Naki in the transplant museum. But his memory lives longer in the minds of those surgeons taught by him.

"Hamilton was very skilled not only in the surgical aspects, but in the anaesthetics aspects of animal research. If he hadn't been black he would have been given the opportunities to undergo medical training," said Professor Del Kahn, the hospital's head of surgery.

None of Mr Naki's children have followed in his footsteps as education was too expensive on a gardener's wage.

But he has been given a presidential award for his achievements - the Order of the Mapungubwe - one of the highest honours in South Africa.

"I can be happy now that everything is out. The light is lit and the darkness has gone," he said.

Ca4e for 4

Have a walk in Sai Wan, then headed to Tower, and tea in the Cafe on the 4th floor.

Along the street in Sai Wan, very quiet, and with a little bit sunshine, it was a very comfortable walk.

In the Cafe, there is a very nice lake/sea view - with two bridges. Once in a while, some boats passed by.

There were not many people in the cafe, relax afternoon!!

Dec 19

Today is Saturday, have a high-school buddy gathering to "blow water" ..... to get update news of each other. Well, only three buddies, but that is good to see friends once in a while, to share everything, that 's what the friends for !!!

Restaurant D. Afonso III

It is a very old Portuguese restaurant in Rua Central, and almost most of my Portuguese colleagues recommend this.

I ate there for few times, and I sometimes also bring my friends to eat there.

Very good cooking and fresh food !!

The restaurant is very small, not many tables, but very close to each others. The boss hires Philippines ladies as waitress.

One bad thing is that there is no non-smoking area, and sometimes the Portuguese smoke inside the restaurant.

My friend also recommends me the grilled tiny pig, I am waiting for enough people to eat there, as the portion is really big!!!

One thing to remember - this restaurant closes on Sunday.

Belcanção

Few months ago, went to Four Seasons Hotel to have buffet dinner.

Had a wonderful time and enjoyed very much. Lots of seafood, Portuguese cuinine, and the dessert..... I was not disappointed at all of the food, and I think the money was well-spent, even though it was a little bit expensive.

At the same time, the service was really good, and I liked to observe the performance of the smart waiters and waitress.

I am planning to have another dinner there soon, to treat myself!!!

From Internet
Belcanção serves Portuguese and Macanese cuisine at its finest and is the perfect setting for business entertainment or intimate family celebrations. In the central open kitchen, innovative chefs use the finest regional ingredients to create a distinctive cuisine where local favourites play a leading role. An international buffet incorporates live cooking stations and a spectacular wine bar, with a large selection of wines available by the glass. A Kid's Corner is available for our youngest guests, featuring an extensive selection of treats.

Specialties
Belcanção presents a wide range of traditional and modern Portuguese and Macanese cuisine. Among Belcanção's specialties is the famous bacalhau, a signature fish dish that attracts many travellers to Macau.

Wing Lei

Have a family dinner in Wynn Chinese Restaurant.

This is my second time eating there, I like the environment very much, especially the crystal flying dragon, and I think I like the Dim Sum there rather than the dinner.

During the first time, the Dim Sum was really a wonderful surprise to me, with the service and the environment, I have a very good impression of the restaurant.

This time, for the dinner dishes, not bad, but not so excited either. Just like regular dinner in the other Chinese restaurant. We had Shanghai cold dishes, chicken, lamb, beef, Tufu, seafood, fish soup, vegetables....... and the melon from Columbia and blueberries. For the bill, it was about 380 per person.

Anyway, I enjoyed the service and the design there, feel so good.

The description from their web-site:

Chef Peter Chan creates culinary surprises under the sparkling eyes of Wing Lei's iconic crystal flying dragon. Set in a strikingly contemporary yet distinctly Chinese-style decor, guests are invited to savor classic Cantonese cuisine featuring signature and seasonal menus. For dim sum connoisseurs, an array of delightful hand-made dim sum and barbecued dishes prepared by our master chefs is served daily on our lunch menu.

Good News

Today is P 's Birthday, I still remember this.

December is usually a good season of the year, as Christmas and new year is coming.

Lots of good news around.

My colleague L gets a new born grandson.

Cousin is going to get marry on 16 January, and yesterday was the engagement date.

My uncle is going to retire, today is the last day of his career life.

My boss is going to retire pretty soon, and 15 January will be his last day of work.

Not to say, we are going to enter another new standing point, as we are going to celebrate the 10th anniversary return to mainland China.

Most of all, we are going to have the Christmas holiday!!!

Song - Hopelessly devoted to you

Guess mine is not the first heart broken,
My eyes are not the first to cry,
I'm not the first to know there's
Just no getting over you
I'm Hopelessly Devoted To You

But now there's no where to hide
Since you pushed my love aside
I'm out of my head
Hopelessly Devoted To You
Hopelessly Devoted To You

I know I'm just a fool who's willing
To sit around and wait for you
But baby can't you see there's nothing else for me to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you

But now there's no where to hide
Since you pushed my heart aside
I'm outta my head hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you

My head is saying fool forget him
My heart is saying don't let him go
Hold on to the end that's what I intend to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you

But now there's no where to hide
Since you pushed my love aside
I'm outta my head hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you

Song - Will you still love me tomorrow?

tonight you''re mine completely
you give you love so sweetly
tonight the light of love is in your eyes
but will you love me tomorrow
is this a lasting treasure
or just a moment''s pleasure
can i believe the magic in your signs
will you still love me tomorrow
tonight with words unspoken
you say that I''m the only one
but will the spell be broken
when the night meets the morning sun
and I''d like to know if your love
is love I can be sure of
so tell me now and I won''t ask again
will you still love me tomorrow
will you still love me tomorrow
will you still love me tomorrow

Song - Times of Your Life

good morning, yesterday
you wake up and time has slipped away
and suddenly it's hard to find
the memories you left behind
remember, do you remember?
the laughter and the tears
the shadows of misty yesteryears
all the good times and the bad you've seen
and all the others in between
remember, do you remember
the times of your life? (do you remember?)
reach back for the joy and the sorrow
put them away in your mind
the mem'ries are time that you borrow
to spend when you get to tomorrow
here comes the setting sun
(comes the setting sun)
the seasons are passing one by one
so gather moments while you may
collect the dreams you dream today
remember, will you remember
the times of your life?
gather moments while you may
collect the dreams you dream today
remember, will you remember
the times of your life?
of your life
of your life

Song - My Way

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4DJMPGNiD0&feature=related

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.
I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"Oh no, oh no not me,
I did it my way".
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
Yes, it was my way

My way
我的路

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I've traveled each and every highway
But more, much more than this
I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
But more, much more than this
I did it my way

Yes, there were times I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill; my share of losing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say - not in a shy way
"No, oh no not me,I did it my way"

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way
yes,it was my way
