Macau was hit by a major
power outage on Wednesday.
It started
around 11am in the morning,
affecting parts of the main
peninsula, Taipa and Coloane.
Many shops were forced to close.
Banks,
and telephone and internet
services were also hit
and firefighters were called
to help dozens of people
trapped in lifts.
The problem
is believed to have been
caused by a fault in an
electricity sub-station in the
north of the SAR.
Emergency
repairs were quickly initiated and things began to get back to normal by late afternoon.
