Tai Peng Restaurant
Heard this restaurant for a long time, and its famous dish - Swiss Chicken Wing, but never got the chance to try as sometimes whenever I was in HK, tired to locate the restaurant, just browsed around and picked something to eat.
This time, accidentally met this restaurant near Times Square, it was before 1 PM, and still there were tables.
The restaurant was not big, and it was crowded with tables, it was established in 1860 - much much older than any of us.
I just had the feeling that it is like a typical Hong Kong style Cafe ( 茶餐厅), except the waiters are dressed in nice uniforms with bow ties ( I am quite surprised that most of the waiters are very old , and I believe they have been working there for long time).
We ordered the signature set - lobster soups, stirred fired beef thick rice noodles, roasted pigeons, coffee/tea and a tiny cake.
The food was quick and the tastes were OK, however it was very crowded in the restaurant and it was quite noisy - many parents took the kids for lunch.
Eating in the restaurant made me remember the restaurant "Fat Siu Lau" of Macau - it is an old restaurant too.
Old restaurants are getting fewer and fewer, eating there is like paying a visit to the old good days.
