The Snapdragon – known as the goldfish flower – symbolises wealth in
Chinese culture, and in the celebrations of the 15th Anniversary of the
Establishment of the Macau SAR represents the ‘Flower of the sea’ of our
maritime city. One floral scene depicts a lighthouse and ship loaded
with floral decorations, while another represents an undersea palace,
with sailing vessels returning home. Auspicious whales, hippocampus and
coral scenes feature, courtesy of 60,000 pots of many varieties and
colours of snapdragon, while 20,000 pots feature numerous varieties of
winter flower.
