自古人生最忌满，半贫半富半自安。

半命半天半机遇，半取半舍半行善。

半聋半哑半糊涂，半智半愚半圣贤。

半人半我半自在，半醒半醉半神仙。

半亲半爱半苦乐，半欲半禅半随缘。

人生一半在于我，另外一半听自然。

Since ancient times, life hates excess the most;

half poor, half rich, half at peace with rest.

Half fate, half heaven, half chance’s call;

half take, half give, half good to all.

Half deaf, half mute, half unknowing mind;

half wise, half fool, half saint you find.

Half others, half self, half free and light;

half awake, half drunk, half spirit’s flight.

Half kin, half love, half joy, half pain;

half desire, half zen, half flow, no gain.

One half of life is what I do;

the other half I leave to nature true.
