I enjoy hiking very much, however, cannot get any interested friends to go with, I would love to make some trips to visit the beautiful Hong Kong GeoPark. Let me see whether I can make it or not!!

Geo-tour and Hiking Activity

Free geo-tour will be organized and provided for public on Sunday and public holidays starting from 29 November 2009 to 28 March 2010 (except Lunar New Year Holidays). Enrollment for Geo-tour on Feb - March 2010 will be started on 4 January 2010.)

Hong Kong's interesting rock formations and natural landforms are numerous and easily accessible. Many of them are near country trails or within close proximity to urban districts. Such unique advantage makes it ideal for geological discovery and field research. To top it all, most of these attractions are effectively managed and protected because they lie within the borders of country parks or marine parks. They are prized natural assets with conservation, education and recreation value.

Although modest in size, Hong Kong has an impressive showcase of intriguing natural landforms. Amongst these, geological relics in the eastern region is most unique and highly valued by geologists. These famous formations include:

自行租船前往。由於西貢島嶼較多，可以考慮從西貢碼頭租船出發，沿途經過滘西洲、吊鐘洲、沙塘口山、火石洲、橫洲等，近距離觀賞岩石險峻的原始景致，一睹絕崖滾落深海的磅礴氣勢。

(註：一定要選擇天氣晴朗且穩定的日子前往，海面有風浪時絕不適宜到外島遊覽，否則易生意外)

在沙田馬料水碼頭乘搭小輪來往。

馬料水開出：星期六上午9時及下午3時30分，星期日上午9時；

平洲開出：星期六、日下午5時15分(查詢電話：2272 2002)。

考察活動最宜沿着島的周邊進行，一方面因為沿岸的岩石露頭出露情況極佳；同時在潮退時可沿岸邊小路步行環繞全島，易於觀察更多的岩石露頭和地質現象。

乘坐西貢墟開出的94號巴士或鑽石山港鐵站的96R巴士(僅在週末及公共假期行駛)，經過北潭涌後下車。沿大網仔路前行至岔路口，靠右方的西貢萬宜路續行約9公里，即可到達萬宜水庫東壩，遊覽萬宜地質步道。

從沙田馬料水碼頭乘船直達(查詢電話：2527 2513)。若取道陸路，則可從西貢墟乘坐7 號專綫小巴，在海下路白沙澳下車，沿山徑步行前往，路程約3.5公里。退潮之際露出較大面積的岩石，較宜觀察；但即使是漲潮期間，在碼頭西側沿岸也可看到不少岩石露頭和沉積現象。

自行租船前往，烏蛟騰經荔枝窩前往鹿頸的遠足路綫亦會途經。

20C專綫小巴由大埔墟南盛街(公眾假期由大埔墟港鐵站開出)開往至烏蛟騰 (查詢電話：2873 6808)。

56K專綫小巴則來往粉嶺港鐵站和鹿頸 (查詢電話：2673 3626)。
