Read an article from the HK newspaper about this coffee shop - " Tai Lei" in English, it means big profit!! It was told that they sell plenty of the pork chop bun daily, and for the weekends, few thousands??!!
Actually, it is a coffee shop in Taipa area, close to the bicycle shops, where many years ago, most of the teens rented bicycles and spent a day in Taipa and Coloane area. My friends and I usually liked to have a drink or afternoon tea in this shop. the owner also took advantage of the open area in front of the shop to put the tables.
They also sells noodles and other kinds of buns, but it turned out the Pork Chop Bun became very famous, the HK and the mainland visitors like to come over to try, and they usually need to line up.
After it became famous, I can barely try the bun again, th last time was with my aunt from HK, she also commented that it was overpaised.
As the cost on lining up to get the food is high, in addition, I don't find it very special, and there are plenty of delicious food around, it is only an advertising skill - for visitors. I havn't eaten there for a long time. I also think that not many local people would like to spend time to get the bun like the visitors!!
