Man on the Floor

In our dorm, no male guests were allowed to enter the rooms. Male friends could only stay on the first floor, where there were two sitting rooms.

Only during the open day activity, we could invite our male friends to go up to the second and third floors to our rooms, but the doors should be opened!!!

In certain circumstances or emergency purpose, with the approval of the head resident, there were few exceptions (e.g. sometimes the repairing man needed to come over to fix the dorm facilities).

Then, we needed to call loudly in the hall way - "Man on the Floor" - to let the ladies knew that there was/were males around - this was because in the female dorm, especially in the early mornings, many were in a hurry to have showers before going out,and they dressed very little!!!!
