In South Boston, the state police force is waging war on Irish-American organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy Costigan is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Frank Costello. 翻拍源由
2003年美國明星布萊德·彼特的製片公司「B計劃娛樂」（Plan B Entertainment）買下《無間道》的翻拍權，2005年正式由美國導演馬丁·史柯西斯著手翻拍，由李奧納多·狄卡皮歐（Leonardo DiCaprio）跟麥特·戴蒙（Matt Damon）主演，2006年10月6日美國、英國、台灣、香港同一天作全世界商業首映。

故事由香港轉到美國麻省南波士頓，警員比利·寇提根（Costigan，李奧納多·狄卡皮歐飾）被指派往一愛爾蘭黑幫充當臥底，搜集情報，並獲得黑幫老大法蘭克·卡斯塔洛（傑克·尼克遜飾）的信任。與此同時，黑幫成員柯林·蘇利文（Sullivan，麥特·戴蒙飾）也加入當地警隊進行滲透，並獲晉升為特別調查組。兩名臥底終日擁有雙重身分，在警方的一次行動中，因為雙方均有對方派駐的臥底，使警方無足夠證據起訴黑幫成員，而黑幫也無法獲得利益，使雙方均得悉有內奸存在。

在電影結局裡，寇提根的命運和陳永仁一樣被殺，但黑幫臥底蘇利文和劉健明則不同，除了警長奎恩（Queenan）外，隊長丁南（Dignam）也知道寇提根的真正身分，在寇提根死後，Dignam離開警隊，私底下把蘇利文殺死。
