江雪 柳宗元 poem

千山烏飛絕，

萬徑人蹤滅。

孤舟蓑笠翁，

獨釣寒江雪。

Snow over the river

The flying birds in the jungle have left for long,

Along the silent paths,

there is no movement of passengers.

Of the cold river covered with the white snow,

there is only one elderly fisherman in a tiny boat.

Wearing his rain coat and old hat,

the fisherman is fishing lonely  under the freezing weather.
