海上生明月，天涯共此時。

情人怨遙夜，竟夕起相思。

滅燭憐光滿，披衣覺露滋。

The moon uprises o’er the boundless sea;

All lands beneath share this same hour with thee.

Lover laments the long and dreary night,

Longing awakes through all the weary height.

I quench the flame to savour moonlight’s glow,

Don cloak and feel the dewdrops gently grow.

I cannot hold bright moonbeams forth to send,

So turn to bed, to dream our tryst amend.
