I am not a football fan, and I didn't follow the news of World Cup before, however, it was from 1994, I started to pay attention of this world event, as I learned that it directly affects many people's daily lives, and I can make it good conversation topic with friends.
It is the TV news and programs to remind people of the Game, in addition, some people gamble on the results.
For me, I can also use the World Cup previous tournaments to remind my old days.
1994 USA - I came back from States in June, and I started my first job. That year, I remember my boss told me that his business affected a lot as people watched the game at night time, and day time, they didn't like to go out shopping, as a result, his business was pretty low for few weeks.
1998 France - During the time of the World Cup Game, I was travelling in LA, and I remember during day time, some people stayed in the bar to watch, however, the atmosphere was not as crazy as in Europe - most of Portuguese friends are great fans.
2002 Korea/Japan - The Game was in Asian, and we could watch the game in the afternoon/evening, my colleagues were very crazy about that, and I also joined them for guessing the game results.
2006 Germany - S informed me long time before the game, she asked me to consider to visit her and watch the game in Germany - I didn't make it as I changed my job about the time. Not much memories about this other than that.
2010 South Africa - Ttonight is the first game - Mexico v.s. South Africa!!!
