New cash handout for 2012

From Macau Business:

The government will keep the cash handout in 2012, chief executive Fernando Chui Sai On announced yesterday during his first day delivering next year’s policy address at the Legislative Assembly.

Mr Chui will return today to the Legislative Assembly to answer questions from lawmakers.

Mr Chui announced next year’s cash handout will be MOP7,000 (US$875) for each permanent resident while non-permanent residents will get MOP4,200.

That is the same amount residents received in 2011, but divided into two cash handouts.
To help ease inflationary pressures, the government will also implement tax-exemption measures and subsidies for education, medicare and housing, among others next year.
Mr Chui also said that the SAR government will continue its support for the development of small-and-medium-sized enterprises, with the government’s upper limit of loans to them to be increased from MOP500,000 to MOP600,000.

Mr Chui also said the electoral system for both the chief executive and the legislative assembly will be reviewed, but announced no concrete reforms.
