More cash handouts

Macau Business:

The chief executive, Fernando Chui Sai On, today announced the government will give the local population one more cash handout this year.

According to Mr Chui, who was talking at the Legislative Assembly, each permanent resident will get an extra MOP3,000 handout in the second half of the year, while non-permanent residents will get MOP1,800.

According to Mr Chui, the measure aims to help locals to face inflation.

In 2011, the government already handed out MOP4,000 to each permanent resident while each non-permanent resident got MOP2,400.

Mr Chui said also that the government wants to introduce a special stamp duty to fight real estate speculation, besides tightening mortgage lending.
