黔婁是安守清貧的高士,因妻子賢淑,便不覺度日艱苦;
陶淵明不擅謀求生計,翟氏便親自拾柴炊爨,操持家務;
你的家族留有祖訓,要將清白白淨的家風傳給後代;

To My Wife
Bai Juyi (Tang Dynasty)
Alive, as kin beneath one roof we dwell;
dead, one dust‑grave shall our bodies swell.
Even strangers give each other kindly cheer,
how much more, then, my dearest, you and my dear!
Qianlou bore hardship with unbowed mind,
his virtuous spouse made poverty kind.
Ji Que, a farmer, tilled the earth’s brown loam,
his wife received him as an honoured guest at home.
Tao Qian sought no wealth, no worldly gain to seize,
his Zhai lit fires and gathered fuel with ease.
Liang Hong spurned all official rank and fame,
Meng Guang wore homespun without a shade of shame.
Though learned volumes never met your eye,
these old‑time tales have passed your ear by.
A thousand years from now, what shall men say
of us, when our brief lives have slipped away?
While breath remains, let us our souls attend.
Our wants are simple: warmth, and bread to mend.
Plain herbs may stay the hunger’s sharp demand,
why crave rich feasts of dainty meat and brand?
Thick‑woven cloth may turn the winter’s blast,
why yearn for silks with embroidered cast?
Your house bequeaths one precept, pure and bright:
leave to your heirs an unsoiled, honest light.
I too am one who loves the steadfast way,
and but lately with your hand did mine array.
May we keep plainness, through our days endure,
and grow old side‑by‑side, with spirits glad and pure.

À Minha Esposa
Bai Juyi (Dinastia Tang)
Vivos, habitamos a mesma casa como parentes;
e envelheçamos lado a lado, com almas alegres e serenas.
